Antica Fattoria Del Grottaione

I had three dishes plus the greeting salad and I enjoyed all of them. The pasta was fresh and well boiled, the seafood on the spot and the olive oil (bought some) of expected outstanding local quality. The fish was well made and a cod can be a bit soft, which is not a bad sign or anything, just the fish. I read some of the complaints before and sorry I cannot confirm anything I read there, since neither there is strange music (classical soft rock from the 2000s mostly), nor was there anything with wrong prepared food. All excellent from my side.

We had lunch at the nice terrace with a beautiful view. The food was a big disappointment, worse than I could imagine. The house wine was good. Service was ok.

It doesn’t happen very often and I can count them on one hand, but sometimes you come across the “perfect place” be it a restaurant hotel or some other experience. This was such a place for us and one I highly recommend. I experienced several Tuscan dishes that were out of this world. I know it is summertime but do not leave without trying the pappa al Pomodoro. Otherwise trust the chef if you are not sure what to try. We are drinking the local (house) wine wherever we go and how can you go wrong in Montalcino. Lastly, the views of the countryside from the patio are just breathtaking.

Wandering around the Orcia Valley, and looking for a fantastic location to eat, we happened in this fantastic restaurant in montenero. the owner and manager was very kind and prepared for all lunch. He made us comfortable, and he gave us the right advice. the room is accessed from a square closed by buildings, and then access the outdoor terrace; Here, this is a beautiful experience! well furnished, overlooks the wall on one of the most beautiful views of the world, the valley. only the view is worth a visit to the appetizer: beef and eggplant rolls. simple as exquisite. two first: cutters to the porcini (proper, but he told us: frozen by us,) asparagus cutters and ham. Great! A peposo as a second: a stracotto of beef, in wine and pepper, served with fresh tomato. a delight. wine of a local winery: nothing to envy the brands blasonate. Semi-cold and cheesecake. A nice lunch, all very nice from the tables to the dishes to the terrace with breathtaking views on the lime of ox! all very clean and a nice menu with special things that are not found anywhere but delicious!
