Dal Gattone - Castel del monte

Very clean, service good, food just OK, we had ravioli, was OK, the sauce was not so good, the antipasto was OK

Excellent homemade bread (best we had by far the whole trip), best grilled meats my husband had, as well (both lamb and sausage were excellent). The Olio Santo (spicy oil) was amazing try it! Solidly good pastas (but they don 't have everything listed on the menu outside, they will tell you what the options are for the day, at least at lunch). Limited secondi options for vegetarians (as in all Abruzzo, it seems: hope you like cheese). Light, drinkable house white wine. Good service. Reserve or go early (by 12:30) to insure a table, as it fills with locals after that. Maybe a little expensive compared to others in the area we paid over 80 euros for 4 for lunch: no antipasto, 4 pastas, 4 mains (but two of us just had a few pieces of cheese for our mains), house wine, no dessert. The restaurant is located in a nondescript building on the lower edge of town. Inside, you go up two flights of stairs to a pleasant dining room with windows looking back onto the town. (Nicer than we 'd feared it would be, looking at the outside). No outdoor seating.

We recently attended a special occasion luncheon at this family run restaurant which included multiple courses of typical local dishes. The food was simply delicious, all fresh and presented in a well paced fashion. The suggested wines were perfect and very reasonably priced. The service was outstanding and considering we were a large group on a very busy day, couldn't have been any better. The staff was warm, friendly and the serving sizes very generous. The restaurant even provided the most delicious specialty cake which was presented beautifully to the guests of honor. We will definitely be returning to enjoy more of Lucia's cooking on our next visit to Castel del Monte. A truly memorable experience!

In four we took rotten with pandorate, ricotta ravioli, lamb and cheese, rose wine and genziana coffee water, all great at only € 100, to immediately return compliments to the young and nice lady who helped us w l'abruzzo
