Trattoria Aurelia - CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI

I visited this restaurant in August 2019, on holiday with my wife. This trattoria proposes a selection of Tuscany dishes, but has a slightly less usual, although still traditional, menu than the mainstream trattoria. My wife for example had pigeon, slowly cooked in red wine and extremely tender. I had roasted cockerel, excellent. As antipasto, a selection of wild boar meat: salame, prosciutto, croutons and sausage. Not unusual to find cinghiale in a Tuscany restaurant, but a whole cinghiale board could be slightly more challenging than expected. In fact it was excellent. I was advised by a woman who looked like the owner or the managed to try their caciucco (typical fish soup from livorno) but i was in the mood for meat. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to visit again! Only drawback: their house wine has an appealing price (8.5€ for a bottle) but wasn't amazing. Which might be expected given the price, but i would rather have proper home wine in a jug than a bottle of not so amazing wine. But the rest was great. Service was also up to standard. I truly recommend.

Not a way to treat a customer, paid a lot of money for a dish with anchovies very salty and complaining the owner told me I should of ask ....???

In spite of a not particularly well cared environment, which, by itself it would put you off when you walk in, we had a fantastic food experience. In Tuscany, the substance matters more than the form. Questionable menu (not exactly tidy and clean), wine list available only on demand are things that makes you wonder... then a very helpful waiter will answer you questions about local foods. And then...the show begins! All home made pasta, great steak and meats plus home made desserts. Good local wines selection too! I would surely not recommend it for vegetarians as this is a place for meat lovers. Prices slightly below the average.

Luogo fresco dove cenare in una calda serata estiva, menu semplice e con poche scelte ma ancora tipico della zona. eravamo bene, i prezzi leggermente più bassi del posto medio.

Scoperto per caso, si è rivelato essere un ottimo ristorante. antipasto casa superiore
