Pastelaria Xenu - Cascais

This must be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We came to crab a quick bite after spending a few hours at the beach. Was very surprised when the waiter told me that they were sold out of spagetti.. The whole restaurant was dirty, with flies all over. The food from the kitchen was piled up waiting for the waiters to come and get it. We waited about 15 min for the bill. After asking repeatedly for it, we just went to the counter, put the money on it and left. I would never set foot in this place again!!

While visiting Lisbon we spent one day in Cascais. We were hoping to eat fresh seafood, but expected to find only expensive tourist spots. So we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely this place was we were attracted to it because an elderly Portuguese couple were sitting at a table outside, so we figured it must be authentic. A portion of bread (a delicious crusty loaf) and a bowl of olives were each 30 cents. We shared the Grilled Sardines with Potatoes and Salad (7 euros), and found the portion enough for 2 (3 large sardines). As a comparison, the grilled salmon was 8 euros, and the grilled chicken 6.50 euros. They also have great salads you can make your own by choosing 3 toppings to put on a bed of greens that cost 4 euros (small) or 5.50 (large). The restaurant is located on a nice street, with tables outside in the shade, right in the center of Cascais. Very good and friendly service. I would definitely go here again!
