However, the waitress then listed several items that were unavailable on the menu. While we weren’t planning to order those, it was still surprising to hear so many items were out. I should also mention that the restaurant was quite hot, with only fans circulating air, and it appeared to be a bit unclean. We waited a long time for our order to be taken, likely because there was only one waitress serving multiple tables, one of which had at least ten people. We ordered sushi and a ribeye steak. After about 20 minutes, we were informed that there was an issue with the sushi, which we never ended up receiving. When our entrée finally arrived, we were disappointed to find that the ribeye was mostly fat. Overall, we left feeling dissatisfied and definitely won’t be returning.
We ordered takeout and brought it back to our hotel. The egg drop soup, egg foo young, and cream cheese wontons were all delicious. However, the egg rolls were actually more like spring rolls and a bit small. The moo goo gai pan was somewhat bland, but it tasted much better with the egg foo young sauce. Overall, the quality of the food from this small restaurant in a quaint Tennessee town was impressive. I would definitely recommend it if you're staying at the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn.
Yelled at by the lady because I was having a hard time understanding her. Didn't make the sushi I ordered, so when I got there it would have to be made (keep in mind I am on work lunch when this happens), and the price was outrageous for the servingoffered. Drive 3 miles to ninja and you will get better food at a better price. Ordered a crab roll today (10-14) and foundtwo large pieces of plastic in the sushi. Jesus, I won't be fooled again because they are close to my work.
Delicious!!! The owners are incredibly kind! We visited this restaurant last year on our way back from Gatlinburg, and we're stopping by again this year! The Japanese food is affordable and exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent; they made us feel very welcome, cared for, and appreciated. Don't judge the food by the location or the size of the building—this place offers fantastic flavors, and the owners are wonderful people. In the end, that's what truly matters.
Pretty sure I am embarrassed that I took food pics but this place deserves them to be posted. I spent a couple of weeks in Japan with a lovely Japanese family that the father was a chef in Tokyo. I have missed his cooking ever since my visit. The lovelycouple that runs Takumi have brought that wonderful cooking to Tennessee. Don?t let the exterior keep you away. If you are inthe area, go! Authentic Japanese cooking (no habachi chain food unless you are just bent on ordering it! . Instead, opt for therice bowls that feature tempura (the real kind and wonderful muzo soup. Fab asset to the Caryville community!
