Big House - Cartaya

When we first ate upstairs in the restaurant (not the downstairs buffet) the food, wine staff were so good we were delighted with our experience and as a result have returned many times. This time though it was a definite disappointment. Some of the dishes that arrived were not as ordered when we were shown the menu the waiter was unable to understand what we were trying to explain. However when noodles arrived in the place of a rice dish I was slightly confused but when one of the starters arrived AFTER the main course I was even more confused. We also asked for a bottle of dry white wine and were served with semi dulce after being told it was dry! Again the waiter was unable to understand us? Or could this be a tactic used to get away with poor food service? The quality and presentation of the food had definitely deteriorated so unfortunately we will not be visiting again. So sad really as the upstairs restaurant is decorated to a really nice standard and you could have such an enjoyable time there as it is so comfortable if only the food was good!!!!!

Travelled from Ayemonte to Big House Chinese restaurant as a result of a recommendation. What a shame and waste of petrol. The greeting was fine but the lady was not able to explain how the food worked. After a tour of the different buffet counter's, we took some starter dishes, which were very average and only luke warm!!. For the mains, you help yourself to raw veg, fish, meat etc. and take up to hot plate for cooking. This looks and sounds positive but the end result was a sloppy mess in a very salty sauce that arrives at different times. We left most of this. The best dish was the individual tub of ice cream. I hope this doesn't offend, but I want to be honest. Needless to say, we won't be back.

The restaurant has two floors. The ground floor is an all you can eat buffet. It's fine and the food is very good, but sometimes crowded and a bit noisy. Great ambiance for families however. On the second floor they have a more upscale restaurant serving delicious Chinese food with a pretty extensive menu. It is calm and a very pretty setting. The service is excellent, very concerned about the clients which is very nice. We had basic Chinese fare, spring rolls, dim sum, Szechuan Chicken, Sizzling Prawns and it was all delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for a nice night out when around Cartaya Spain..
