We didn't want to walk the gauntlet so we stopped after getting promised lots at La Notte. Real Sicilian chef, the older man said.I wasn't impressed with the price of a Chicken Parma being $35 but hubby said let's try it.We had our nieces and nephew meet us for dinner and we all ordered. The staff after that were rude and inattentive. We were told since we ordered garlic bread we wouldn't get our promised "Brushcetta" on the house, when I asked for it.The chicken parma was burnt and no way worth $35. I'd had better ones at pubs around $20. 2 of the kids shared a pasta, I had lasagne and hubby had risotto.Lasagne was big but hard in spots. More pasta than meat.Hubby said risotto was good. When he went to pay, he was asked "how much tip" was he giving and felt put on the spot.We didn't get anything promised and would definitely go elsewhere on our next visit. Lygon St was great years ago - I grew up near it and had many wonderful meals. If you walk the gauntlet, just consider you may not get what's promised - just to get you in the door.
We had the 3 pastas on a platter, n Cannelloni. The meal was great and very tasty. We enjoyed the bruschetta too. Service was reasonable and we would return although a little pricey. Location is great
I visited this restaurant today and can honestly say I had the worst meal in years. Having eaten at lunchtime, I did not want a huge meal so I simply ordered lasagne with a mixed green salad. I waited what seemed an appropriate time and my meal arrived. Basically, it was a huge slice of layers of lasagna interspersed with tomato ragu. But what really appalled me was the fact that it was lukewarm on the outside and stone cold on the inside. Clearly this was not freshly made as the restaurant promoted, but a failed attempt at a reheated dish. I duly complained and the manager took it away. 10 minutes later, a waiter reappeared with my dish. They had simply zapped it a little more in a microwave. Needless to say, my appetite was somewhat dulled by this experience. I ate the salad and some of the lasagne, paid the bill and left in disgust. I could not possibly recommend anyone eats here.
Our decision to have lunch here was unplanned and therefore we could only guess that all would be good by the menu description and range the establishment size, presentation and welcome at the door.Unfortunately, the menu prices did not match the quality. The marinara was lacking in seafood. It was not busy so we were surprised at the poor service and lack of staff attention throughout our lunch.May be it was just “one of those days”.
