Metal Bridge Inn - Carlisle

It had been 25 years since our last visit, but with business in Lockerbie and an early afternoon appointment in Longtown, this restaurant was the perfect spot for a quick lunch. The £10 deal for a 2-course lunch was a great value and the food was excellent. We definitely plan on returning sooner than another 25 years.

I cannot find any fault with the food or the staff at this restaurant. However, the pub itself could use a makeover as the decor and furniture are outdated. We visited at night so we couldn't see the outside very clearly. I appreciated that they offer free parking for motorhomes if you dine at the pub, although we were staying at a different location on this occasion. I would come back here, but it would be nice to see some improvements from the management.

We had a wonderful meal with our family at this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is very friendly. I particularly enjoy the omelettes here and the kids are always welcomed warmly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a perfect stop over to and from Scotland as they allow you to park motor homes in the car park for free as long as you eat in the pub. I’ve done that kind of thing before but this was the first place I’ve stayed that had toilets (clean too) and space to empty chemical waste and fill water . The pub was typical pub grub food, very reasonably priced with lovely friendly service from staff. They even gave us a carton of milk when we realised we had run out for our morning cuppa.

Stayed in campervan park , this morning owner let his dog poo all over , no attempt to pick it up !!
