Greyhound Inn - Carlisle

My parents went to the Greyhound Inn with my brother and his wife and said it was a pleasant dining experience. They were not disappointed at all. The food was amazing, truly delicious, and the portion sizes were good. There were many options on the menu to choose from. The pricing at the pub was also very reasonable, and there was a wonderful, family-friendly atmosphere at the place. The landlady was lovely and welcoming. We will definitely be returning in the future.

First of all it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive at our table, The service was friendly however quite slow, second of all the food was extremely cold and and had to request to send it back to the kitchen but when...it returned back to our table after 10 minutes it was still cold. Thirdly very overpriced and didn’t even get a refund for the revolting food and fourthly the food has made two of the 6 customers vomit. The toilets were very unhygienic and had urine and pubic hair on the toilet seats.

I was going to make this a very short review, but decided the staff needed a mention as well as the food. The staff are all young, or I’m getting old, and are brilliant. Very friendly and very helpful, always a smile on their faces,...even when it got busy as locals arrived to watch the England v Croatia match. They have a policy of only taking bookings on half their tables, this enables them to accept walk-ins, but also turn them down if the kitchens look like they are becoming overwhelmed with orders, (something a place in one of my previous reviews could learn from). The Sunday lunch is one of the best I have ever had in a pub, and I’ve had lots. Good portions, good thick slices of tender meat, I never understand places that serve the meat so thin you can read the Sunday papers through them. Lots of good fresh vegetables, and a real homemade Yorkshire pudding, you can tell they’re homemade, no two are the same shape. Perfect.

I decided to have lunch at this restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices were very affordable. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was beautiful, and the location in the village was perfect for a leisurely walk afterwards.

My party dined at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the addition of a singer/comologist, who enhanced our lovely experience. The staff was welcoming and even provided tasty food for our dog. The homemade food was delicious and not like typical microwave chain meals. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place to anyone. They also offer vegetarian options.
