Contribuiți la feedbackTuesday night dinner. There are maybe three other couples/families in the place. Overall feel of the place is not dirty, but not clean either. The train itself is not very long so there are not a lot of selections available right away.I sit down, only one cook in the middle, no-one else to be seen. There is only one menu in sight and that is being used by someone a few seats to the left of me. Another cook comes into the middle but both cooks appear to be very lackadaisical about the whole thing - dawdling, no sense of pride in their work (and this is just from a few minutes of watching while waiting for the waitress). A few minutes later the waitress comes from out the back sees me and asks if I want a drink, but no offer of a menu. None of the staff are wearing a uniform of any sort (just casual clothes).I notice a very badly written whiteboard with the 'chefs specials' on it, and I ask for a chicken teriyaki-don. It takes three goes for the waitress to convey to the cooks what I ordered. I choose a sushi plate from the train, it had fresh salmon in the middle with a seared salmon on top, quite nice but then it all went downhill from there. I also have some fried dim sims which are all on a single skewer (why?) from off the train which were put on just a few moments before. By this time the waitress comes back to me and says that they don't have any steamed rice for the teriyaki, so I ask for the chicken skewers instead (yakitori). I see one on the train but I ask for a fresh one as I don't know how long the one on the train has been there for. Again it takes a couple of tries for the waitress to convey this information to the cooks. The cook then proceeds to take a pre made skewer out of container that is sitting on the workbench in front of me (for who knows how long), puts it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, and then smothers it in sauce and hands it to me. Note that the container is not cooled or under a heater, it is simply a large tupperware type box. And for this I'm paying $4.60 (as this is how much the purple plates are normally). I eat the chicken but it's really not that good - some parts are dry, some parts feel almost undercooked.By this time I have lost my appetite after only three plates and go up to the front counter to pay. The waitress is at the back of the room concentrating on something and it was a few minutes before she noticed me standing there - in fact it is only because someone else came in that she looked up from what she was doing.I calmly explained to her that I won't be coming back, because of the steamed rice, the chicken, and the lack of service. She then tries to argue with me about the chicken, saying that it's only been sitting there for half an hour so it's ok. I try to explain to her that every other sushi train I've been to in Brisbane has made them fresh (i.e. fried from scratch) but she just doesn't seem to understand.I guess if you come on one of the $3 plate nights it might be better because it's busier and the food is being put out on a more regular basis, but for me I won't be back.
Went there for dinner on a Sunday night when all plates at $3 (April 2015). $3 plates also available on Monday nights as well. The restaurant is easy to get to and there is ample parking in nearby streets. Parking during the weekday may be problematic due to area being busy. The restaurant has a kitchen in the middle, surrounded by a a sushi train. We sat at the back of the restaurant on a table connected to the train bench. There was a damp toilet odour where we sat which was not overly pleasant. The restaurant was busy...for the $3 plate night, how very looked tired a and not overly clean. The food was good value and similar to food at other sushi trains in Brisbane. You have to watch the train carefully as some ofthesame food was going around on the train and r the hour we were there. Avoided this food as much as possible and watched what fresh food they were adding sothgat we could take the fresher food. The restaurant is byo.Overall experience was good and would go there again for a Sunday or Monday night. Would avoid the back of the restaurant...since there was a bad odour.
My family and I ate here 12/6, we all got food poisoned (4 of us) and I spent a 3 hour drive back home the next day vomiting my guts up. Their ingredients are obviously old and rotten and I have not eaten chicken since this experience and I will never eat sushi again. How sad is that? It wasn't just a bit of bacteria poisoning, I non stop vomited for 2 days. I reported to QLD health straight away and they investigated them. They should be shut down! Do not eat here!! Absolutely disgusting!
I live nearby, and have been here about 20 or so times. Concept is that there's a train running around in the centre, and you pull off plates with your dish. Plates vary from $3.00 up to $5.50 (color coded), all sushi, whilst you watch the chefs prepare the sushi in the middle of the train track. Good fun, food is heavily rice based (of course), good quality toppings, great variety. Staff are friendly, place is clean, prices reasonable, in the evening plenty of street parking (there's also parking out the back), and the suburb (Stones Corner) is well light and generally considered safe at night.BTW, resturant seems to be known as Sushi Railway as well as Sushi Tram
Great for a quick easy meal that's tasty and fresh to meet friends or just to enjoy sushi with a loved one
