Contribuiți la feedbackThis is not my first experience with Kings, most times they are of extremely high quality. I've seen the awful reviews but I would recommend people give them a chance regardless. I ordered the vegan kofta, vegan basmati rice and vegan garlic naan. Everything was tasty, the spice level was accurate to the advertisement and the rice was extremely flavourful. I would ignore Menulog's delivery time, every time I order its 20-30 mins later than what they say. (At worst it is an hour overtime but they are very apologetic and kind regarding the matter. You can always call to check in with the status of an order). <br/ <br/ Last time I ordered the vegan butter chicken, which was overly chewy, extremely salty and very spicy. But the staff were very friendly. They call you to let you know how the delivery is going, and always speak with a friendly and enthusiastic tone. I didn't complain about the last curry I got, so I don't hold them to this. It is increasingly hard to find good Indian in Brisbane, let alone truly vegan food, and Kings is a place of reliability for me. Don't be put off by the scathing reviews. Most people don't feel compelled to write positive reviews online so I feel its not the most accurate representation.
Had dinner at this vegetarian and vegan restaurant last night. Walked in and was greeted by the very friendly waitress, who presented two of the tab to us and simply introduced how to use the tab to place our orders electronically (very high efficient method that solve and save lots of human resources). Honestly, we are not expertise on selecting the dishes but just ordered by our gut feelings. We ordered the Vegan Fix Thail (MIld), Paneer Makhhani (mild) and a side dish of Roasted Papad with additional drinks of Palin Lassi and Indian Masala Tea. Food came in within reasonable time frame and they are tasteful but average in taste as compared to what we had in other Indian restaurant. Having said that the drinks are both surprised and deserve thumb-up, particularly my first time experience of Indian Masala Tea, which has the resembling taste of Hong Kong Milk Tea with the spiciness from ginger that really 'sing '. Not a bad dining experience.
Have been wanting to try this place for a while, but my live-in boyfriend basically has a phobia of vegetarian food. Like you know how the internet went nuts a while back with the videos of people scaring their cats with cucumbers? If I was to sneak up behind him with a cucumber I dare say I’d be met with a similar reaction. I mean I assume so anyway, though I’ve never actually tried it; because unlike those people who did it to their cats I’m not actually a horrible person.<br/ <br/ Anyway, this has been a bit of a stalling factor since I am incredibly indecisive and can’t simply order one dish; I need some variety... so when I order just for me I always end up with some frankly obscene amount of food and then eat maybe half of it, but really like a quarter of it because I’m pretty small and I’m pretty sure that the saying ‘your eyes are bigger than your belly’ was almost definitely written about me, despite being coined like many years before I was born. Anyway, I hate wasting food and whenever I do I get really down on myself and think about how privileged I am which is a total drag. <br/ <br/ Last night however, I decided to think with my hangover and lean-in to my excessive and ultimately wasteful) tendencies. I picked two curries; the vegan butter chicken because I’m pretty sure it’s illegal or at the very least ‘taboo’ to not order butter chicken when you’re a white chick) and the vegan saagwala. I also ordered a garlic naan and some plain rice. Off the bat, bit devo that for over $20 a pop my meat-free curries didn’t come with complimentary rice -1 point). <br/ <br/ The food arrived on time and everything was actually there +1 point). The curries themselves looked and smelt excellent, and didn’t seem excessively oily +1 point, because when I’ve just ordered my own weight in Indian food, lack of obvious oil helps me feel better about my life choices). The butter chicken was very nice, in that way that most butter chicken is very nice unless you get a dud one +1 point). Bit disappointed about the amount of mock meat in the curry though -1 point); I feel like mock meat should be cheaper than actual meat, and if you’re already paying a premium to not have meat they could at least throw you a few extra pieces. In saying that though, the less than excessive amount of mock meat did make me feel less guilty about food waste +1 point). <br/ <br/ The saagwala was also very yummy, a stand out even; and it seemed to have more mock meat than the butter chicken +2 points). The garlic naan was standard but nice, also not overly oily and it was a decent serve. The rice was rice +1 point), but it wasn’t yellow and everyone knows yellow rice just tastes better -1 point).<br/ <br/ Overall, despite a few minor gripes and I’m being picky because I’m on the internet) I would definitely order again. The curries were very nice and I enjoyed the mock meat; it was tender and held the flavour of the sauce nicely. With a few tweaks yellow rice mainly), could become my go-to Indian place. I just need to help my boyfriend overcome his plant-based food phobia, but they probably make therapy tapes for that... or I could just lie and tell him it’s chicken. That mock meat is pretty convincing imo. He’s savvy though... we’ll see how we go.
First time here having heard good things about the food at this place. Was certainly not disappointed, the Paneer Labaabdaar was rich and creamy! The Cheese and Spinach Naan (pictured) was great. There is a tablet order system which takes getting use to but it is simple enough and the owner was more than happy to explain the process. Service was a little slow, as it was a quiet Friday night, however it was worth the wait. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on their menu.<br/ <br/ Samantha Lau
This place is incredible!! Seriously just good food, the people are friendly and the service was great. I cannot wait to go back! My mouth waters just thinking about the food. Great place for vegans with meat eater friends/partners because you don't even realise its vegan! So they can enjoy the meal just as much as you!
