Wyevale Garden Centre Cardiff Botanic Kitchen

This restaurant is typically a great spot for lunch and always bustling with customers. However, during my recent visit, my party and I waited for over an hour for our food. This was particularly frustrating as we had been told there would only be a half-hour wait. We observed numerous customers complaining and some even being turned away from placing orders. The staff were incredibly polite and appeared to be working tirelessly. When our food finally arrived, we were disappointed to find that the usual crispy frozen chips had been swapped out for fresh chips that were greasy, soggy, and inconsistently cooked. Despite being fresh, these chips were subpar compared to what I make at home (and I'm not a great cook). Normally, I can overlook long wait times if the food is exceptional, but in this case, I would have been better off cooking at home. I am uncertain if I will return to this restaurant in the future.

Having ordered coffee and cake I sat back and watched the kitchen staff as well as front of house staff at work and can honestly say none of them stopped. Extremely busy in the restaurant and it all ran like clockwork. Congratulations to the team both in the kitchen and serving.

Overpriced and slightly oily. Charging £1.95 for half a mushroom as a side to poached eggs on toast is outrageous. The staff is friendly, the location and ambience are great, but they need to reevaluate their pricing and use less oil in their cooking as it can be greasy. Even though the small breakfast was tasty, the small portions were evident on the plate. It is also worth noting that the shop is on the expensive side, despite having a variety of healthy options.

I love this GC, always been my favourite, bought a load of plants, lights etc and decided to have toasted teacake and coffee, after I left the restaurant I made way to the check outs, only to be warned by an older couple to watch out for DOG POO on the floor by the food outlet and the cloths! We discussed how this wasn't right for a GC, the smell was awful and someone had spread it a little way, apparently whilst the dog owners were busy browsing their dog left a pile and they did not realise...great! I did complain and had a reply on how rare this is and that it is a dog friendly garden centre, it shouldn't be rare it shouldn't be at all. Maybe on my next visit I could bring our pony!!!
