Contribuiți la feedbackLunch at L'Oustal was a wonderful treat!! Yolande, the proprietor and chef, is a wonderfully warm and attentive host. She'd prepared a fantastic lunch for us and made us feel very welcome. After five courses, accompanied by some very nice wines, we left feeling very happy and replete!
The experience was fantastic. We found out about the restaurant in a binder at our rented vrbo. Make reservations ahead of time and you will not be disappointed.
During the summer if evenings are hot enough, as they are now, one can sit out on the terrace and enjoy the peace and calm of Citou, the village famous for its Onions and Cathar ruins. Yolande will serve you up a superb meal, authentic french food all home cooked. Love to eat here during the winter as it is a dining room experience with large central table to meet other diners or small private tables all in front of a roasting fire. Great wines too.
We were about fifteen friends for lunch: we were received and served with warmth and friendliness by yoland, always smiling. a great rich lunch, with fresh products. yolande doesn't hesitate to do kilometers to provide us with a delicious bread to accompany for example its immersed daube in hours and hours .... an address to remember certainly far from a city but to discover
Yolande is the owner and chef at this intimate restaurant part way up the main street in the village as you enter from the Caunes Minervois direction, along a very windy route. As on all previous occasions, the whole of the entrees and main dishes are fish-based with a selection of deserts. The fish soup is absolutely delicious and we always go back for a second plateful. Then there is a magnificent array of shell fish, oysters, muscles, squid on ice, beautifullly presented with an array of assorted accompaniments, herring pate, avocado spread, houmus, and several more. Deserts also are delicious. Wine and coffee included in the price of 39E for the works. Reservations are essential as Yolande purchases and prepares local produce to accompany her dishes, to suit the number of diners. She also does outside catering for events, weddings, christenings, and if you are ill in bed she will also bring food to the house. A warm welcome waits for you, with a gracioud hostess/chef and a calm and pleasant ambience. Yoland also provides fsit down meals, outside in the street during the Citou Onion Festival which is also a quaint and interesting event during the summer.
