We were in Point No Point 30 years ago for our honeymoon. In a holiday house in the garden house by the sea in Sooke we booked the dining table in the PNP last night. Supposedly gluten-free options fed to a chicken dish. The appetizer Scallops were good, but the albacore Tuna main course was old frozen piece, thickly scorched and with indescribable tasting very thick sauce. The Albacore was dry despite the 2mm crust. The veggies were overdue and devastated. There was a lack of rice served so delicious with the scallops, but not with the Albacore. The chicken was your average dish. Overall, the only positive experience was the waitress who was very busy, but nevertheless efficient and friendly. In view of the food quality, the PNP restaurant was the only flop in our 30th anniversary stay in Sooke. Certainly not worth the money and the 1/2 hour drive from Sooke. We do not recommend eating there.
Stunning. We wanted to go for at least a romantic meal with a high end when we were in Sooke and discussed long and hard between this place and Sooke Harbour House. We have chosen Point no Point, and it was definitely the right decision (we have the scope of Harbour House out, which also confirms our decision)! The view is absolutely stunning as we were able to observe a huge eagle over magnificent waves that crashed on the shore, where a seal burst up and down. It is a very small picturesque place and it fills up almost immediately to be so sure to make a reservation! Food and service were also incredible. We shared the beets/potato-Latke bowl, which was lovely. My wife had the roasted chicken breast, which was also really good and perfectly cooked, although it could have used some more spices and the goat cheese was hard to find. I had the lamb, that was the best tasting lamb I ever had. Definitely recommended and a highlight of our holiday. Make sure to include it in your meal plans!!!
Danish photographer. Point no Point is the unique place to stay when you visit Vancouver Island. I spent a week here and it was the week of my life. Don't miss it. Go! Visit the rainforest and the Botanical Beach and live now. It won't be better.
We have been here a few times for dinner and the food has always been superb. This time we tried the place for lunch. The menu was limited, as the dinner menu, which is fine. I would rather have a small specialised menu than a large run of the mill menu. I ordered the pork dish (I'm not sure the name) and my wife ordered the mixed green salad with a grilled chicken breast add on. The pork was interesting. It came in what looked like a rice bowl. The presentation was decent. The pork looked and tasted very much like pulled pork dish, though the flavour was quite unique. It was on the sweet side. It came with toasted bread pieces and some seasonal veggies mixed in. I wasn't sure what to make of the the 2x1x1/2 inch slab of pork blubber that was strategically placed on top of the dish. Was it purely for presentation, or was I expected to actually enjoy eating it? Not sure. I chose not to eat the blubber. Not my thing. Perhaps the kitchen mistook it for a fine piece of pork and included it in the meal. Anyway, the dish could have done fine without it. All in all, the pork dish was relatively satisfying. My wife said her salad was one of the best she has had, anywhere. The leaves were extremely fresh and the chicken breast cooked perfectly. She chose to have a balsamic dressing instead of the licorice based one it came with. She wasn't sure how the licorice based dressing would mesh with the rest of the ingredients. Our lunch was very enjoyable, especially with the spectacular views of the ocean from the dining room. One last thing, the lunch menu is very reasonably priced for the quality of food and presentation you get. The service was punctual and the staff were very accommodating. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner
