Sonnekus Boutique Bistro - Cape Town

Sonnekus has been beautifully renovated. The rooms are large and spacious, with thoughtfully designed finishes. The SMEG appliances in the room are top-notch. The atmosphere is light and airy, giving it a warm and inviting home-like feel. The café menu features a delightful range of options, from superfood smoothies to French toast and a classic English breakfast. It's definitely a must-try!

What a delightful experience at the café for breakfast! The steam-punk coffee machine immediately caught my eye, and there was an array of cakes and cookies that all looked tempting. We chose to sit indoors, where we had a lovely view of the garden and the sea across the street. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the owners stopped by to greet us. The menu offered a wide variety of both hot and cold options. I opted for the croissant with scrambled eggs, while my partner and our friend went for eggs Benedict. The croissant was wonderfully buttery and fresh. We all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast, served by attentive and friendly staff, and we were pleased to have a chance to chat with the owners.

As a local from St. James, I absolutely adore this restaurant! The food is incredibly delicious and affordable—definitely the best smoothie bowls along the entire main strip. The coffee is also excellent. It's a lovely spot for sitting down and getting some work done. The staff is fantastic (shoutout to Phin!), and the ambiance is wonderful. I’m really excited that St. James now has this great place to visit!

Excellent service. It was my birthday and the waiters went out of the way to make it very special. You're so friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The carrot cake is divine as the crunch biscuits. I was so impressed. Hardly noticed the busy road. It was not over so that the rooms could not be rated. Hold the standard. I'll be back a lot.

We enjoyed every minute at Sonnekus 3 days just wasn't enough. Everything was perfect, the setting, rooms, service and the classic coffee machine. They even provide treats for doggies. Hope to be back soon.
