Contribuiți la feedbackMy experience did not bring about the purchase of wine, but more of a personal matter. The less we were treated with an impromptu tour when the owner Dave met. Wow. Simply amazing wine farm, from the history of French oak barrels and how they combine with different grapes, to its filling process where recycling is of great importance. We were through the plant where its wine matures, and given a very informative description of the process of grapes to wine. We were taken through his magical vineyards, where we even had the opportunity to get strawberries. My better half was in heaven. The venue is for weddings, private functions and do not forget the main purpose, tours and tasting. Hard to believe that I literally lived 200 meters from him, that was my first visit. A man of the ground, Dave, has a high zest for life and is Master Winzer. Very recommended for everyone.
High Constantia is a boutique wine in the famous Constantia Valley in Cape Town. The history of the farm dates back to 1693, when it was part of the Dutch East India outpost Wittebomen, referring to the silver trees. During the 1800s the farm belonged to the Van Reenenen family, purchased by William Duckitt. Van Reenen was known as a great businessman and wine maker and produced wines on the way to the rivals of the famous Groot Constantia and Hoop-op-Constantia in 1824. Records from the 1800s describe High Constantia as a great place visit and buy wine route from Simonstown to Cape Town, as described in the visitor books in the Cape Town Archive. High Constantia offers wine sales along with a wine tasting experience on its quiet property overlooking a dam. When I went to the wine tasting, they had 4 beautiful red wines available: Sebastiaan, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. High Constantia was a relaxing experience where I could taste wines in my spare time and enjoy the historic atmosphere and friendly staff.
In 2007 red sebastiaan and the champagne is simply wonderful. if they are looking for home to visit a few bottles of his place.
Great wines, laid back atmosphere, serene landscape and terrific winemaker. Their reds are the best. Not to be missed by any wine lover.
A great selection of wine, cider and Champaign. All the tastings were fantastic. The staff were friendly and welcoming. In a cosy quiet cool location. I drink very rarely, a great experience for me as a novice.
