The initial encounter with the maitre was quite unpleasant as we added two additional guests to our initial party of six, and he mentioned losing a table, despite the outdoor dining area being nearly empty. This left a negative impression, though we tried to overlook it. During dinner, we noticed some shortcomings. We had to pour our own wine, and the food was just okay. The seafood risotto, in particular, was excessively salty. An unfortunate incident occurred when my father, a 74 years old simple man, finished his meal before the waiter had served everyone else, leading to an unnecessary comment from the waiter. The experience concluded on a sour note when the lights were abruptly turned on after the last table left. In summary, the restaurant exudes pretentiousness, and the staff struggles to connect with their patrons. I'd rate it 2/5, primarily for the pleasant ambiance and passable food. There is certainly room for improvement in terms of hospitality.
What a delight this restaurant was. Food, setting and service were all superb. We had the tasting menu and could not fault it. Every dish was delicious, including the fabulous breads. Really friendly, helpful staff and wonderful to be introduced to the chef. Highly recommend.
One of the best meals of my life. We were staying in the beautiful hotel reserved a table in advance for dinner at the restaurant. I let them know that I was vegan the chef created 2 of the most delicious, creative, natural, tasty, harmonious dishes I 've ever eaten. They were perfect in their simplicity honouring of tradition. My husband also had 2 incredible dishes both prepared with care attention beautifully presented. The meal started with a few 'samplings ' again vegan for me which were so light tasty, they were incredible. The meal was also accompanied by an incredible selection of bread. Everything was like eating air it was so light. Great thought great talent went into creating everything we ate. The service was also top notch, attentive, informative professional. We would be delighted to eat here again. Chef thank you so very much for taking such care in preparing my vegan version. Alla prossima : Grazie.
At Casa Coloni the experimentation is combined with the flavors of tradition in a non-invasive way: is perhaps this why I try to go to every change menu! Personally on one side I can't wait to taste the untouchable, like the fake tomato and buffalo butter accompanied by the bread made with the acorn flour (I am dependent). On the other hand, I am always curious to see what the Chef Coppola invented between oxidation, fermentation and new combinations. All this in a magical place like Paestum where everything is treated in detail. If you are good forks like me, I recommend the tasting route.
