Zizzi Canterbury

We booked as a larger group and had an almost separate area, which was really nice. The staff were welcoming on entry, and took everyone’s orders politely and efficiently. The food arrived quickly.. the “spicy chicken” pasta was tasty, well cooked and presented very well. I always love the garlic bread with the onion chutney. Reasonably priced meals. Good service.

This Zizzi restaurant is in a fabulous location in the centre of Canterbury and just yards from the Marlowe Theatre. This was spoilt by the overpricing of the salmon salad. Plenty of green leaves, half a tomato, less than a quarter of an avocado, about a third of a salmon fillet in flakes, all topped with a dressing. £16!

Booked a table in advance. On arrival the place was medium busy but not heaving. Waited to be spoken to/ shown to table. There was a staff member making coffee who saw us, 3 other staff members passed us. Waited...Waited some more, and I mean for several minutes, still nothing. Finally called out to the coffee maker who bothered to answer after 3 attempts. He mumbled about being busy and went back to making coffee...Pathetic, awful service. We left and went elsewhere.

We went for dinner for my birthday Thursday night and was so looking forward to it, but to have it ruined by our waiter. he was extremely rude and abrupt. raised his voice at my friend when it came to the bill as she wasn’t sure the price of the dish she ordered and asked him what it was. and then shouted at myself for wanting to use the website to pay as we wanted to split the bill but absolutely did not want to do it with him. he told me it wouldn’t work and proceeded to stand over us, i politely asked if i could give him a call if i couldn’t get it to work and we (thankfully) didn’t have to endure his awful customer service again. ruined our evening

Since our last visit a couple of years ago this place has gone downhill. We had 4 main meals and all of them were poor. Seabass for some reason this was battered. Salmon Pasta Dry and bland Pizza Ok but Salty Breaded Chicken Had better in KFC. The starters of Garlic Bread and Calamari was acceptable and the desserts were good. Only plus was the waiter was friendly.
