Phoebes - Canterbury

After reading good reviews, I booked Phoebe’s for an afternoon tea to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. We were very impressed! We really liked that we could choose the finger sandwiches that we wanted (from an extensive list). The food was really lovely we were provided with a box to take home the cake that we couldn’t manage to eat. We’d thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who loves an afternoon tea!

Cosy interior, friendly staff and service, really tasty food. Great find. Will definitely be going to back for sure, very impressed.

Yesterday we had a wonderful afternoon tea at Phoebe's. We were there to celebrate my mother's birthday and she was a bit overwhelmed by it all. Lesley and Lana made us feel very welcome. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were all super fresh, homemade and very tasty. The chocolate and orange cake was delicious. We thoroughly recommend Phoebe's to anyone!

As a local, Phoebes is my go to place when I want to have coffee or lunch out with a friend. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented, and I'm not a cake person but they do look rather appealing! The welcome is always very warm and inclusive too and the service is excellent. I'm autistic and struggle with the noise and activity of the larger chains in town so the smaller, calm space of Phoebes really suits me. Also, I regularly meet with a trans friend at Phoebes because I know that it's a safe and comfortable place for both of us, and she has never felt anything other than valued by the staff. I cannot recommend Phoebes highly enough if you want coffee and cake or a light lunch, and especially if you want it in an olde worlde venue. They offer such great quality and value and a big smile!

We came to the pub next door for dinner and my wife noticed this cafe so when we visited nearby St Martin's church we stopped here for a coffee which was very nice. The cafe is very comfortable and well appointed and we will find an excuse to come back for food.
