Vizi Et Sfizi - CANNOBIO

After eating here and reading the previous reviews I wanted to say that We had a great meal here. The food was excellent and the prices were good. We had the spicy salami and salmon pizza, with panacotta for dessert. The waiters were friendly and service was quick.

After wandering around the picturesque town of Cannobio yesterday we stumbled across this restaurant.It looked inviting, and it all looked very promising to begin with. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, and shown to a nice table at the back of the establishment. The menu had several appealing dishes and we picked two, one fish and the other a burger. The food arrived quickly and I did a double take when I saw the size of the burger. I thought it was from the kids menu, or I had discoverd the last outpost of nouvelle cuisine, it was appertizer in dimensions. The tomato sauce on the fish dish was cold and for €18 the size was a little underwhelming. We picked the Tiramisu for a dessert, and whilst it looked nice it tasted like it was made of whipped cream instead of mascarpone. The best part of the meal wasn 't the food but the unfriendly service of what I took to be the manager. When I asked to pay by card he surly said you have to go upstairs Fair enough I thought, and dutifully did that and bumped into him again. He wasn 't the most attentive person whilst processing the credit card transaction. I noticed the bill had an entry for Coperto on it and I questioned what it was as I suspected it was a cover charge. He replied curtly that it was bread, which is odd considering it was a quantity of two and the only bread I had was the bun on my burger. I dont mind paying for service or charges, but this came across as a bit of a sharp practise to fleece customers and he outright lied about what it was for. This is a real pity as it cost the waitress a tip from us that would have been more than the cover charge. The other shame is the food is nice but the size of the burger was laughable. When I ordered it my girlfriend thought the waiters reaction was because it was another english philistine ordering a macdonalds in the home of pasta and pizza, but I think it might have been a hint of embarrassment on his part!!! I would definitely not recommend anyone eating here until the portion sizes and attitude of the some of the staff improve.

Excellent service, atmosphere and views

Excellent food, service and a great wine menu (arranged along the wall by region)! A nice place to eat if you want to avoid the smoke laden outside food hauntes...go for it!

Staff is super friendly. Food is delicious. Cocktails can be ordered alcohol-free.
