As You Like It @ The Street Theatre

We were in and out of As You Like It for a whole day recently. Breakfast, Lunch and LOTS of tea and coffee.The service was FABULOUS, the meals and drinks were great.A big shout out to Joe and the staff who were all very attentive.Thank you :)

I know cafes have their systems ... but this cafe needs to think again!I was sent here, because I could get a cheapish ready made sandwich and a cake. Both items were right in front of my eyes as I selected and paid.So, the till operator (because I now know that this is all that he does) takes my ready made sandwich through to the back ... and I wait ... and I wait five minutes for it to reappear, cut in half and wrapped in bag."Where's my donut", I ask. "Oh" he says and lifts one from the display, and then there's a short wait for the same lady who delivered me the sandwich, to deliver it to me in a bag with a "sorry" I must add.The sandwich - a ham and cheese salad in a fresh roll - was good and the donut was excellent.

While the Cafe isn't cheap as chips it does have really nice food and a great selection of tea. It also has loads of space and doesn't echo which makes it a great place to catch up with friends.

My cup of tea arrived with no tea in the pot. When I enquired inside, I was told to go back and check for the teabag on the tray. I did so and still found no tea provided. Twice I went through this process before they believed that they had made an error, and was then told 'it was only a teabag' when I questioned this. Super disappointed in their service and inability to take responsibility for an error.

It's worth mentioning that when a coffee shop is in business for this long with the same owner, it is safe to say you are not going to be disappointed. I've seen him jump in the kitchen and take over the grill, wait on tables and even wash the dishes but his real talent is in customer service and his coffee, both traits flawless.
