The hot tubs should be called lukewarm tubs because they were tepid at best. The futons in the rooms were uncomfortable and small. And some places were dirty (in the window by the back deck we found dozens of flies. No way someone cleaned and missed that. There is no water source outside of sinks. Huge beautiful refrigerators without water source. I’d caution folks to being their own jugs of drinking water for their stay. Great having a washer and dryer downstairs. The staff is nice but there were some things they could do to better prepare folks. Their phone number on one of their printed directions papers is incorrect. They provided us with a key code that did not work. All of the rooms lock when they are closed so you will need a key code even to get into your individual room. The oven takes a long time to heat up. Be sure to allow for extra prep time just to get the stove hot. There was a lot of emphasis on staying quiet or police would be called in the literature, and we learned why. If you sit in the hot tubs or fire pit in groups in the evening, voices carry across the puddle (no way this is a lake and can seem deafening. We kept quiet but something to tell your guests ahead of time. Overall, we would return but will keep in mind the limitations of the hot tubs and the fact that the futons are uncomfortable. We will likely bring inflatable beds for those who can 't do the futons.Internet connection was great. Plenty of glasses, coffee cups, plates, silverware etc. Nothing plastic so those traveling with kids should bring their own. Pots and pans were fine but I’m glad I brought my own cast iron skillet and metal spatula.
This was my first visit and I loved this place so much! We stayed in the lodge (they also offer cabins). I loved the cozy decor of the lobby and guestroom. You feel like you're in a mountain cabin. The place is relatively small so you feel like you have individualized service. The employees were so nice. The moment we checked in Terri gave us a tour, showing us the communal kitchen that all guests can use (to cook, put your own food in the fridge, get ice, etc). The lodge has a giant wraparound porch with swings. The location is a bit off the beaten path so you will find plenty of solitude. I highly recommend the Cliffview!
This was our 8th day at Cliffview Resorts. Our reservation was for The Lakeside. After all of our guests arrived, unpacked and had dinner going on the stove, we were informed that we needed to move to the Retreat due to issues from the water. Very unhappy, but we were reimbursed for one of our 3 nights. After moving to The Retreat we found it to be in just fair condition. Several TVs not working, both hot tubs not working properly and pretty dirty in many places. There were several other minor things that we just overlooked. We had several people in our group with medical conditions that made it difficult to make the trek to the fire pit. (main reason we choose The Lakeside every year). Everyone in group-20 of us agreed things were not as nice as in years past. This all being said, we love the area and spending time with friends each year. They seriously need to do a deep clean several times a year to these cabins (and move furniture to vacuum).
Very friendly people. We rented retreat cabin for Thanksgiving week very nice and clean.
If you’re looking to host a wedding here, don’t bother. Many of the other reviews were promising for me to host my wedding here but after conversation with Meredith Pitts I quickly realized that that was never going to happen. I messaged her 3 times after she asked for details on different days at different times and received nothing. I finally just said forget it and now I’m trying to warn other brides. I had a budget of $10000 for a wedding here. So maybe if you’re planning to spend 20,000+ for this they’ll reply.Worst venue I’ve ever spoke to. Would never recommend, not even to an enemy. Ridiculous.
