Freddie's Pub - Campbell River

My husband and I went to Campbell River to dig clams and pick up oysters on the beach, and stayed at the Travelodge near this pub. There wasn't much choice, so we just picked this closest one. My husband ordered a burger, but he didn't feel that the burger was any special. Coming from someone that loves burgers... that says something. I ordered the seafood penne; the sauce was too thick to swallow and so the dish was overall very dry. Chicken wings were on special that night, so we got it 10 for $3. I thought a pub wouldn't do chicken wings wrong, but all of them were over fried and dry, so we couldn't finish them. They also didn't know what honey garlic flavour means and just sprayed a lot of garlic salt on top. Both of us aren't pub-goers so we don't know if we were the weird ones for requesting that flavour???

Fantastic and *cheap* wings night (Wednesday) and a delightful bartender. All I had were the wings though, so if you're not sure, stick with that. Visually, it has a dive bar quality, but it's charming.

I'm not sure if Canada uses Yelp reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. I dined at this restaurant twice with my boyfriend's family, as there are limited options in Campbell River. The food here is simply cheap and greasy bar food. The service is also poor, though I understand the servers were very busy, our server couldn't remember our requests. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. I won't be coming back.

I can't think of a single positive thing about this restaurant. However, it's not surprising since no one comes here for the food, just for a quick meal close to their accommodation. The service was slow and the food was extremely lacking in flavor. But once again, people don't come here for the cuisine, just for something to tie them over.

My family had dinner at this pub and it was a complete disappointment. The service was terrible and the food was even worse. The prime rib hamburgers were overcooked and not enjoyable, while the cod fish and chips were greasy and the cod was undercooked. The calamari appetizer was strange and the honey garlic wings were just okay. The timing of the food delivery was also off, with some dishes coming out late and the server apologizing for kitchen issues. The only decent dish was the halibut and chips. Overall, we would not recommend this place and will not be returning.
