This is real Korean food! So yummy! The waiter was super friendly and gave free fries, juice, and candy to the 2 year old. And it made him happy that one of our group spoke good Korean.
When the Koop first opened in Camp Hill it was one of my favorite restaurants. I loved the Ddukbokki and the fried chicken. Everything used to be reasonably priced with nice portions and enough sauce. The past few times I've been there the portions have gotten smaller and they barely give you any sauce on the fried chicken. I looked and it costs $4.00 for extra sauce which is absurd! The Ddukbokki is now $18 dollars for a small appetizer which is insane also. It's extremely disappointing that one of a favorite restaurants would take advantage of their customers so much.
I was in the area and Googled fried chicken near me and this came up, so I 'll preface this review by saying I was hankering for fried chicken.I like Korean food--I 've had some really awesome Korean food in Philly--and in retrospect, I should have gotten Korean food while at The Koop (even though they advertise Korean chicken . I got the Korean wings with the sweet spicy sauce with rice, plus a side of pickled radish (for an extra fee . The Korean wings were super hot (temperature and very crunchy, although I 'm not sure what made them Korean. The sauce was very sweet and not spicy at all and was drizzled on the wings, and actually worked better with the rice. The rice was fresh and perfectly sticky. The pickled radish was delicious with a nicely tart and crunchy bite.I went on a Tuesday afternoon, around 1:20 (so after the lunch rush and there were a few empty seats. When I walked it, there was one person manning the cash register, serving food, and bussing tables. It 's not clear if it 's a seat yourself, order at the cash register, or wait to be seated. They need more staff, or a sign. Food was served fairly quickly and at the perfect temperature.A minor irritation--the napkins were the little tissue paper napkins that are pretty much worthless (especially for someone eating wings! and I had to use far too many just to keep from getting sticky sauce over everything. Cheap, ineffective napkins aren 't worth cutting corners.A friend asked me how my meal was, and the first thing I thought was expensive. Take a look at the menu and you can see prices and to me, they seemed a bit spendy. I think I 'd like to visit again, just to get some actual Korean dishes (and not the wings, although they were good .
I absolutely love this restaurant for its delicious food and the personalized decor that reflects the owner's travels and adventures. The side dishes are also fantastic! As for accessibility, there is a ramp leading to the entrance, making it wheelchair-friendly.
