The restoration was well done, and there was ample parking available on the street or in their parking lot. Situated on the main road through Cameron on Hwy 190/36/77, we were promptly greeted and seated by our server Hanna. She was quick to take our drink orders and provide us with menus. We were pleased to find that the price per glass of wine was reasonable and the serving size was generous. I ordered the 44 Farms Strip Steak, which was cooked perfectly, although I would have preferred a different type of beef as the 44 Farms meat lacked flavor and had gristle. Nonetheless, it was a decent steak. For dessert, I had cheesecake which was delicious, although I wished there was more topping. The prices were fair for a more upscale restaurant and the service from our server was top-notch. While we dined inside at a table, there is also an outdoor patio area which would be lovely to sit in, especially on nights with entertainment. The staff was friendly, and overall, we had a fantastic experience and plan on returning.
Beautiful cozy house, yummy garlic steak bites and artichoke dip, friendly attentiveness. Thanks !
The service provided by Ms. Skyler and the fabulous host, Ms. Willie, was excellent. The 44 Steak was cooked perfectly to medium well. The chef at CAB is truly top-notch.
Early evening on Friday, the restaurant was not packed but there were some empty tables that seemed lonely, which should have been my first clue. The service was lacking and got the order wrong, twice. The food arrived cold and not very tasty as usual. As if that was not enough, as I was leaving, the owner decided to share her beer and opinions of the night's struggles with our table, blaming the staff's issues on diversity. It left me feeling like I needed to take a shower. Then, to have her explain how difficult it was to find good help in a town with people like this (pointing to the local customers) was enough for me to decide not to return. Update: 10/21 I am shocked and amazed by the improvement in service, especially considering the tight profit margins and overhead due to inflation. I visited this place over a year ago and wow, how time flies. The service, wine selection, and quality of offerings have improved dramatically. Someone or something has clearly come in and revamped the service. Honestly, I think I will make this a regular weekend trip. From a hesitant 3 stars to 5 in just a year? What's going on in Cameron, Texas? 6/20 You can find a decent sandwich here, but the venue seems oddly chosen for jazz and alternative lifestyle-themed waitstaff. The setting would seem more fitting in a New York borough. The choice of aesthetics, staff, and cuisine is bewildering. Come and see this oddity before it's gone as I do not see this place surviving. One caveat: if you are uncomfortable with looking up the staff's nostrils while rings and debris swing about, this might not be the place for you.
My sister and I are extremely impressed! This bistro is outstanding. While visiting our mother we stopped by one evening to have appetizers. Hunter allowed us to sit in the lobby for apps and drinks. We enjoyed the food so much we immediately asked our waiter Hunter to reserve us a table the next night for dinner. Next night we all had great steaks which all taste outstanding. We then stayed for the live music which was fantastic. We will definitely return for a great time.
