We were staying in a hotel about 200m from Pret a Manger. Breakfast at the hotel was far too expensive and we would only have muesli, porridge and a fruit juice plus tea or coffee. Pret a Manger delivered just what we wanted and was very good, we had breakfast here every morning.
Pret have mixed sexed toilets with a coded door which prevents easy access in out. I asked for the code they gave me the customer after me the wrong one. We had to wait until someone came out to let us in. They are mixed sexed toilets so I was alone in a secured area with two males. I felt unsafe. I then had to find the release button to get out as quickly as I could. If I were assaulted by a male I would have had no chance. I’m quite sure no risk assessment was done before a system which traps women in a secluded locked area with men was done. A panic buttons needs to be put in for such occurrence so staff are aware of any issues.
I love the soups and sandwiches served here. They also make decent Espresso. I also love their pasta and salad.
This was a visit of extremes. On ordering a cappuccino I ask the barista for something gluten free. He wasn’t sure, so rightly he consulted a person who I took to be the manager who was arranging a chiller cabinet display. His negative response can only be described as cursory, unapologetic that bordered on rudeness. The barista was clearly embarrassed and offered me a free drink. Has Pret become so scarred by the nationally reported Ednan-Laperouse food intolerance incident that they don’t want custom from those of us who have to live with debilitating and often very serious conditions such as these? The first and last visit Pret! .
