Chris's Fish - Camden

I had some time to spare before catching my train, so I decided to refuel at this restaurant. I ordered a delicious piece of fish with perfectly cooked chips. They only accept cash, but I highly recommend this place. The staff was friendly, and I had a lovely visit. Thank you!

This is the best fish and chips in Camden. The chips are really fresh and tasty too. I have been in Camden for over 30 years, and believe me when I say this is the best. And it's so affordable too.

At 6:00pm on September 7th, 2021, with my train back to Birmingham leaving Euston at 7:20pm, I was in need of a quick and light meal. I vaguely recalled hearing about a chip shop on Eversholt Street, so I decided to go for a walk in search of it. After quite a distance, I started to doubt my memory, but then I spotted some children eating out of paper cones. The shop is located near the Royal Mail depot, slightly set back, making it easy to miss when looking along the street to the North. It seemed to be a family-run business, and they greeted me warmly. I opted for chips with curry sauce. There were a couple of tables available for dining in at no extra cost. The chips were freshly cooked and piping hot, while the curry sauce was a standard but satisfying portion that hit the spot for me. Throughout my visit, locals came in to place their orders and were met with the same friendly service I received, indicating that this spot is a favorite among the community. A small mishap occurred when I dropped my knife on the floor, but the owner promptly provided me with a new set of cutlery. This level of service truly impressed me. I highly recommend this place.

We went there on Sunday. Luckily they fried our fish to order, and we enjoyed the very fresh-tasting flaky cod (4 star for this). The service was friendly and efficient, but the only drawback was their chips. They were too cloggy (I think it's the type of potato they used) an greasy, and some of them were undercooked. I wish they had been freshly fried, crunchy outside and fluffy inside.

Chris' fish bar does very good fish and chips and for London the prices are reasonable. The portions are generous, and the food isn't coated in grease like at some some chippies. Would recommend going to eat here before hitting a pub in Camden.
