Nice neighborhood bar, which I must finally check. Look at the decor on the ceiling! Do not look at the menu they have on the cabinets, it is...
Basic Irish pub; delicious fish and chips. Much beer selection. A good place for Friday nights.
After a morning business conference at Harvard School of Business, my boss treated my colleagues and I to brunch at The Plough and Stars. First through the small room and the dark lighting (what does not mean saving lighting for a few windows on one side of the restaurant), I was skeptical. However, we were greeted by a friendly and relocated waiter, and we sat on a table for eight, about half the room in the furnishings. We were there in brunch hour, and the menu had many intuitive Irish American options. I went with the Eggs Florentine, which consisted of an English muffin with tomatoes, spinach, two posing eggs and creamy Hollandaise. The kitchen was unique in the basement, but the food was still very fast to us. As soon as my meal came, I was excited when it looked delicious. I pulled out my phone to make a picture (because phone first eats, obviously), then began to dig. The eggs were perfectly fried, and the Hollandaise sauce was the best I ever had. The baked goods were seasoned with slightly boiled potatoes with a combination of spices that give Indian flavors. Overall the food and service was excellent, and my colleagues and I were very impressed!
This place is just five minutes walk from my residence, which makes it a simple choice if my partner and I do not take like a walk to find a hot meal. The food was always good, but not always great. But if you've read my other reviews, you'll know that an excellent egg benice makes a long way with me and says a lot about the kitchen from which it came. Just because Hollandaise Sauce is not easy to do. I had traditional Benny there and was a little disappointed in the Hollandaise sauce of this special visit. It began to separate when it reached our table. But for this last Sunday, my partner and I wanted a fast brunch mix and I am happy to report the Hollandaise. Instead of the traditional eggs Benny I went for her fried eggs. This dish was absolutely delicious! Hopefully, my photo of this incredible court will do justice because it is certainly worth a try. The posing eggs are pampered with a roasted English muffin over a bed of pork. The pig broth reminded me of pork chow mine and it was so good with the perfectly fried eggs and Hollandaise sauce. As I understand, this place has a story. The Plough and Stars is one of the older bars in Cambridge. Modern and bright are NOT words I would use to describe this atmosphere. With its low warm lighting and decades of serving the community, it deserves a worn, homely feeling for it, but it is also not a dipable. It's always clean and welcoming. A good place for old friends who come together and pick up over a pint Staff do a great job, you and your party feel at home. #eggsbenedict #poachedeggs #hollandaise #cambridgecusine
