Allow me to elaborate: I used to visit this place frequently during high school, and I taught myself to be patient when the server would sometimes forget about me after I requested the check. Despite that, I kept returning because I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Recently, after an eight-year gap since my last visits, I've noticed that the staff has become more attentive while maintaining a relaxed vibe. It’s a nice change. I still adore the lentil soup and hummus plate, and I love bringing friends here for the first time and watching their reactions when we head upstairs. The ambiance is truly special.
The stunning and unique setting offers a fantastic view of the Square from the upper level. The decor is charming, and the food is consistently good. During my time living in the area, I frequently visited for Turkish dishes and baba ghanouj. Now that I've moved away, this is the one restaurant I always think of when I return to our lovely city for the weekend. Thankfully, gentrification hasn't managed to remove this hidden gem! No trip is complete without a stop at Algiers.
I really enjoy the atmosphere at this café. It features tall ceilings and a lovely staircase leading to the second floor, where there are a few outdoor seating options that are perfect for a nice day. The space is filled with books, mirrors, and fun decorations that add character. They offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options (I haven't tried dinner, but they might have that too). There's also an extensive selection of teas and coffees. The service can be a bit slow, but it's more of an unhurried pace, which I personally appreciate. The staff is relaxed and friendly, and they won't disturb you while you’re there. There are outlets available throughout, making it a great spot to work or read, catch up with friends, enjoy a coffee, or savor a Mediterranean breakfast.
I truly enjoy the decor and ambiance of this place. They have done a fantastic job capturing the essence of Moroccan style. The drinks were all delightful, and the extended hours make it an ideal spot to unwind and chill out.
There's something uniquely inviting about Algiers that makes it feel cozy. It might be the warm welcome from the owner and staff as soon as you enter, or perhaps the lovely decor and ambiance. The irresistible aroma of coffee and delicious food wafting through the air contributes to the charm as well. I've visited numerous times and have never had a disappointing meal or drink. They even have a small rooftop patio with a view of Harvard Square—definitely try to secure a seat out there if you can. It's fantastic!
