The Boardwalk Bakery & Cafe - Caloundra

We visited a lovely cafe/restaurant with a stunning view. The staff were friendly, though it would have been appreciated to see a smile. The Soy Chai Latte I ordered was perfect and really made my day, as it's difficult to find a good Chai. My husband enjoyed the mixed grill, even though it didn't look appealing to me. I ordered the Veggie Benny with Avocado and Bacon, which looked nice but was a bit bland. The hollandaise sauce and bacon added some flavor, but I would have preferred the meal without the toast. Overall, a nice place but room for improvement in some dishes.

My wife and I are locals and have been here many times for coffee quite a few times and often have one of their very good pies. On Sunday we decided to go there for lunch and ordered the fish and chips. We were surprised just how big a meal it was when it arrived. Four decent sized pieces of fish and good serving of chips. My wife is particular when it comes to fish but she found this very tasty and not greasy. She couldn't finish the meal because of the size of it. We asked for our coffee to be brought out with the meal and it was. A lot of restaurants seem to have difficulty with this request but not here. Very friendly staff, pleasant views of the water and speedy service. Wasn't particularly busy but enough to keep the staff going. One minor criticism which is here to be constructive and not at all critical. A small side salad with the fish and chips would be nice. Will definitely return.

After walking along the beautiful boardwalk we checked out the various coffee shops. This one had a $5 coffee and cake deal. So we ordered the special. We got a huge slice of carrot cake and a great coffee. What a great deal! We will definately return here. Staff also great and the views amazing. We sat inside as it was a little cool in the breeze and we even had a great gas heater to keep us toasty warm.

All of the cafes along Bulcock Beach share the same terrific views out across the bay and its so pleasant to grab a sandwich or coffee and people watch. On this occasion we only grabed a soft serve ice cream here and it was so soft I suspect they need to wind the thermostat on the chiller down a bit!
