The Empty Plate - CALLIOPE

Got given 1 menu to share between 3 people. When we asked about the signature shakes, the whole reason we visited we were told they weren't doing them. Our food came out on tiny plates that were extremely hard to eat from and the food itself was cold. People who were obviously not staff walking in and out of the kitchen with singlets and inappropriate attire for a commercial kitchen in full view of the cafe. Has a lot of potential but needs a bit more effort to make it great.

Great food. While not a huge menu, the food is well prepared and unless very very busy, presented in a timely manner. Very helpful staff

My husband and I got takeaway from here. He got an Angus burger and I got a grilled chicken burger. So fresh and filling! Tasted like the aioli was made in-house.

If you are travelling up or down the Bruce Highway, be sure to turn off at the historical town of Calliope and try this place out. It has truly delightful food and coffee that you will find hard to beat. I have eaten here a couple of times now, I recommend the Eggs Benny, Burgers and Barramundi & Chips. I will be making it a regular stop from now on.

A really nice cafe just off the main road. Very clean and fast service. We both had the hamburger. Comes with grilled pineapple, onions and a fried egg. The patty was juicy and delicious. I was full when I left. If your in the Gladstone area drive the 10 minutes out of town and give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
