Tropical On 17th - Calgary

For the first time I went to tropical on 17th after I heard amazing dinge! the judges not disappointed! my server andrea was incredible! she was always quick to see and see how the dinge go, ask if and when we needed something, and was fast to return with food and drinks! even if my To-go order was missing the guacamole and chips, an incredible night! Before I went after a few hours, my friends and I could experience the beautiful livesing they had. a true and unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to go back!

I really wanted to like this place because it seemed like a fun establishment to try out. Unfortunately it just didn't meet our expectations. The ONLY reason I'm not giving one star is because the hostess was incredibly nice and understanding. We got situated beside a birthday party of about 15+ people, as well as having a table by some speakers. It seemed like the birthday party area was private, yet they sat us down in the same area upstairs. There were other tables available upstairs as well, yet they stayed empty so I don't know why we were the only ones to have been placed there. We felt like we were intruding and did not feel safe because the people from the birthday party were constantly wandering away from their table and not wearing masks when doing so. The music was so loud for us that we couldn't hear the person beside us speak. Mask mandates were not being enforced (not one single employee was wearing their mask properly either) despite having signs all over the establishment. When asked to move away from the private birthday party, we were at first told that it would be possible by the hostess, but then our server came and said no. She said it was not her problem and that we just had to deal with it On top of that, our basic cocktails were either watered down or there was no alcohol in them. We left not long after we arrived due to the attitude our waitress had, as well as the unfortunate and uncomfortable placement of our table.

I went here a few months ago with my cousin. It was my first time here as I heard a lot of this place. Honestly, the food was good but the server was kind of rude. We waited for our tacos for more than an hour. I understand it was a bit busy, but they kept walking by and they wouldn’t update us on our food. The margarita was huge though and it was really good! Hopefully I can go again and get better service.

Would give them zero stars if it was possible. We were sat by right now to a speaker. The music was turned up extremely loud to the point I could not hear the next to speaking unless they spoke right into my ear. We asked to be seated somewhere else or if they could turn the music down. Someone told us they would have a spot in 10 mintues. Later the server came to us and told us this was not their problem! Extremely disappointed with the unprofessional nature of the staff. Will never come back here again.

The service here is always top notch. Hands down one of my favourite places to go on taco Tuesday’s. They’re opening hours are a little confusing as each of their social media’s and website say something different but other than that excellent experience
