Shanghai Classic - Calgary

I visited this restaurant a couple of Fridays ago and it was very busy, which is always a good sign for a Chinese restaurant. Despite the poor decor and a less-than-impressive fish tank at the entrance, the food was quite good. The service was also prompt and excellent. My family and I enjoyed dishes such as salt and pepper prawns, pork chops, Peking duck, and fried rice. Overall, we were all fans of the food and had a positive experience.

Hidden in a small strip mall in Beddington, Shanghai Classic is a hidden gem. Specializing in Chinese cuisine, this restaurant stands out for its friendly staff and delicious food. The Singapore fried rice noodles are a must-try, and they also offer congee, a rare find outside of Chinatown. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Shanghai Classic is your usual neighborhood Chinese restaurant where the customers are regulars and known by the staff.  I would actually say the service is above average if you compare it with other Chinese restaurants they are polite, they ensure your table is set and clean and they always fulfill your requests (ie. return with hot sauce). In regards to the decor, it would be standard for a Chinese restaurant the restaurant feels and appears clean, it may not be modern but I think you're there for the food, aren't you? <br/ <br/ We ordered the small Hong Kong style congee $8.95 and Special Fried Noodles $12.95 (comes with vegetables, and beef) and it was perfect for 2 people.  Food has always been consistent (although I would not recommend the dumplings from prior experience as they are too doughy). <br/ <br/  <br/ <br/

I recently tried the Peking duck with homemade pancakes, shrimp and tomato sizzling rice, salt and pepper seafood, and Cantonese chow mein at this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic! I will definitely be returning.

Been here twice now for lunch. What caught our eyes was they serve Congee with their lunch menu. It's tasty good and the noodle dishes offered is as well. We saw another table that ordered the combo lunch and it was a huge serving. Will we be back? Oh yes! I only wish they offered their after 9pm specials durning lunch too!
