Salt and Pepper - North Bowness

With fun music playing in the background, the server was quick to bring me a perfectly matched Margarita. This restaurant has the best prices in the area.

The service at this restaurant was poor. There was a long wait for everything and the server seemed disorganized. Despite there being three people in the kitchen who could have helped, the service was still slow. A man filled water glasses but didn't assist with anything else. Customers wanted to sit down, but the tables were not cleaned promptly. It took about 15 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was not busy. The management was very poor. When it was time to pay, the server took almost 20 minutes to bring the bill and the machine. The only positive aspect was that the food was good. However, I will not be returning due to the nonexistent service. There are plenty of other places where we can spend our money.

After taking a walk in Bowness Park, we found ourselves craving some delicious food. We remembered there was a Mexican restaurant in the area called Salt Pepper, which has been around for quite some time. The restaurant has about 50 seats and the dining room is bright and fresh. We would love to return when the terrace is open. Our server was knowledgeable and helped us make our selections. She also mentioned that two of her sister restaurants did not survive the pandemic, which was concerning. I ordered the combination plate, which included pulled pork tacos with pickled onions and green salsa that were so tasty they made me groan in delight. The Chilies Rellenos were mild spicy peppers filled with cheese, baked, and fried with a perfectly balanced red sauce. Each bite was beautiful. The chicken enchilada with mole sauce was also amazing. We left happy and excited to come back again. The only downside was that the restaurant was quite cold, causing our food to cool down too quickly. This took away from the overall dining experience.

At first we visited their website, which explained that bookings are not available. When we came to the restaurant, they asked if we had a reservation, don't you know what's on your own website? The place looked disorganized as if they hadn't run a restaurant before. We know that this is not true since we have been there for years. The prices were significantly higher and the portions smaller and it almost looked as if things were prepared earlier and then preheated. The shrimp cup came halfway through the meal and looked like they were swollen. It won't be back.

I wish I could give this 0 stars. DO NOT ORDER takeout from here. You pay an arm and a leg for barely any food. The items you receive are NOT as described. Our fish tacos came with 1 piece of tiny fish that was...about 2 bites and 1 piece of spring mix lettuce which wasn’t supposed to be in there. They do not take accountability for their mistakes and refuse to do right by their customers. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
