Flores Pine - Calgary

The service was outstanding, but the food didn't live up to the hype.

The service was good, but the food was just average. We ordered the tomahawk board for four people, which provided plenty of food, but unfortunately, the steak arrived cold. They did prepare a second one for us that was slightly warmer. The sides were quite good, though. Overall, it’s a nice place, but I would recommend skipping the pricey $375 tomahawk board.

The service was excellent, and the appetizers and wine were fantastic, along with the mashed potatoes and dessert. However, it seems that their grill is powered by propane, as the grilled vegetables had a strong hydrocarbon taste that was difficult to enjoy. The steak also had a hint of that flavor, though it wasn't as pronounced. If it weren't for this issue, I would have rated this restaurant much higher.

Since this was my first time going to an event of this nature, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when we started the experience with how much we learned about the feature wines and the foods they pair with. The host and the sommelier were outstanding in making everyone feel welcome and educating us. I would highly recommend!

All of our meals were creative and very tasty. Chantal did a wonderful job of making us comfortable and serving us very professionally.
