Essence of Saigon Garden - Calgary

Broth in beef pho was delicious. Portions are generous and food is fresh-tasting. Service is friendly. Simple decor and clean, with a lovely art piece of horses to add something pleasing to the eye.

Had supper with an old friend i hadn't seen in 20 years. Started with the fresh shrimp rolls, they were very tasty. Then each of us has vermicelli bowls that were large portions and tasty. Be back again.

Wonderful chicken satay pho and the best ever spring rolls. Consistently excellent service, and unlimited refills on Jasmine tea. Time after time it is our Calgary favourite!

My fiance and I went to Essence of Saigon for a late morning Saturday lunch. Let me preface this by saying, everyone/place has their off days so to be fair, we owe them another visit to confirm our assessment. Having said that - the decor was average and the environment was decent. The service was definitely one thing that stood out as we were attended to almost immediately and received our food very promptly. As usual, we ordered the rice vermicelli with charbroiled pork and spring rolls. For us, the noodles were a bit over cooked and the pork was a bit lacking in distinct flavor. For us, these two things are key in a good rice noodle dish. However, the price was very reasonable and that combined with the good service, helped in the overall experience. Again, normally we wouldn't go back, but this being our fist time, we'll give it another shot just in case it was an off day for the cooks!

Consistent food all the time. Very tasty dishes in a pretty plain decor. The staff are very friendly. We come here often for lunch and it's always busy.
