Cucina Market Bistro - Calgary

This restaurant is fantastic! The food is incredible, and the Asian gentleman provided exceptional service. I visited for lunch and enjoyed the mussels, heirloom tomato salad, and pappardelle truffle pasta. Everything was delicious! I will definitely return to try more dishes and will update my review afterward.

I've dined here several times for special occasions, and the food has consistently lived up to the celebrations. They serve my favorite beef tartare in the city, and their pasta dishes are incredible, especially the one with the crispy prosciutto—it's absolutely mouthwatering. The only hiccup I encountered was a bit of confusion regarding their meal offerings, as their advertisements for multiple restaurants led me to believe that a three-course meal was included. However, we ended up ordering from the menu, and the three-course option was for a different restaurant in their group. Nevertheless, my review focuses on their food and atmosphere, which have been exceptional in my experience. I would definitely recommend this place.

We also shared a squash soup that had a beautifully velvety texture and a lovely Indian spice flavor—definitely a standout! Next, we had the gnocchi with mushrooms and lamb. The lamb was a bit gamier than I expected, but that’s just personal preference. It was incredibly tender, and the gnocchi were perfect, coated in a light sauce. I honestly wish I didn’t have to share! This is the best gnocchi dish I’ve had in Calgary so far, and being married to an Italian, I hold my gnocchi to high standards. Then came the fish, which had a nice crust on the seared skin and was served over a tasty puréed bean mixture. I wasn't as impressed with the fish and probably won't order it again on my next visit. Finally, we moved on to dessert. I had to pop some extra Lactaid pills since one dessert was a delightful berry cheesecake and the other was a rather unremarkable tiramisu for my taste buds. Overall, this was a fantastic way to explore a new restaurant, and I definitely plan to return. If the gnocchi is any indication of their other pasta dishes, I might have found my new favorite spot! Came here for lunch with a colleague and I ordered: Arancini (mushroom, sundried tomato aioli) Conchiglie Saltimbocca (braised short rib stuffed shell, crispy prosciutto) small comes in 3 and large comes in 5 I was definitely amazed at the food and service was not bad. So the Arancini was delicious. I would say you don't need that much sauce. If you add too much sauce it becomes a bit salty. But the sauce was not bad. The Conchiglie Saltimbocca was amazing. Portion looks small for 3 but its enough for myself. The restaurant is very small and you basically need to make a reservation. They have the restaurant split with one part operating as café and offers breakfast items. Overall, I would definitely go back.
