Cho's Sushi - Calgary

Considering the price, I've certainly had better experiences elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend their spicy sauce. However, the service was fast and friendly.

The sushi was great, with generous portions at a reasonable price. The ramen soup was just average; I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return for it. However, I will definitely come back for the sushi.

I visited the restaurant on a weekday for an early dinner around 5:30 PM. It was quite empty, with only one other diner and a few customers picking up takeout, which resulted in slow service. I wanted to try the oyakodon, but I was disappointed to learn that it was topped with fried chicken, which isn't the traditional way to prepare it. The sashimi portions were generous, but several pieces were still tough and frozen when they arrived at the table. On a positive note, the bulgogi salad was quite tasty. Overall, this place offers budget-friendly and casual dining, but the preparation of the Japanese dishes lacks authenticity. It's a bit disappointing that the best dish I had at a Japanese restaurant was actually a Korean one.

Ideal for those looking for affordable and casual sushi, but lacking in authenticity. The nigiri comes with large slices of fish, which certainly offers good value. However, the fish-to-rice ratio is off balance, with about three parts fish to one part rice at Cho's. This imbalance detracts from the overall sushi experience. If Cho's were to increase the amount of rice, it would create a more pleasant experience, ensuring a better distribution of rice with each bite of fish.

Excellent sushi! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The attention to detail in presentation was impressive. I will definitely be returning!
