Bonavista Peking House - Calgary

I use to really like the lunch buffet here It's still the same buffet, not a huge selection.

Well been told by a friend at work about this local community Chinese restaurant and was impressed the first few visits.

Ordered take out from here for the first time last nightThe food was good! Fresh and hot!_Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes were good.

We ordered take out recently and the appetizers we ordered were awful. The spring rolls obviously were deep fried and they were soaked with oil from the process. We have had many spring rolls over the years but none so oily.We also had dry spare ribs and they were equally as bad. Spareribs can have some fatty parts to them which you can normally see and throw out. With these there was some kind of coating or batter that covered up the fatty spots and they were terrible to eat.Moreover, the staff at this restaurant are very unfriendly and act as if you are a bother to them.

If wanted another good feed at a lunch buffet for very little money (around $12), I'd go again. There was nothing wrong with food, it was tasty enough. I did miss that they didn't have anything at all for dessert, and in our group, a few had to wait for the dumplings. I also don't know how well the a la carte items are made. All in all, not a bad place...
