Blackbird Public Urban Bar - Calgary

Went to the Blackbird Bar for the first time and had a fantastic waitress. I think her name was Shandel but I must say she made our night.I ordered the chicken sandwich and my wife had a salad, both meals were great and she really paid attention to her tables. She asked if I wanted another beverage, which I declined, and a few minutes later came by with a glass of water, what a touch without having to be asked.We will be back.

We drove back into Calgary late Sunday afternoon after a weekend away ( a bad time to go home and cook !) - one of our group had been to Blackbird once before and suggested it as a good spot. It was a very hot afternoon - so we were all pleased with the cool and refreshing walk into a quite attractive pub - really nicely laid out with seating selection from booths, to long benches to tables and chairs - and clean (ladies even commented how nice the restrooms were).Excellent attentive service, great selection of beers. Everyone tried something different - from Tuna Pokestack (kinda like a cold sushi salad - very good ), to tacos to fish and chips - there is no shortage of variety on the menu. All were more than pleased. There is a nice looking patio - we opted for the cool of indoors. We will certainly return.

I had the most amazing southern fried chicken - served with delicious mashed potatoes, sweet pickles and yummy creamy slaw. The chicken was crispy, no bones, and lots of it. Amazing. I want to have it again. The others at the table had the nachos which looked good and were massive - served on a giant half tray cookie sheet. My chicken was served on a 1/4 tray. Nice ambience. Great beer. I wish I had a pub like this near my home!

Out for drinks with friends, service is great and the food portion is just right. Great place to come and hang and have dinner.

Love to try new pubs in the hood. Great atmosphere & location. We had an awesome server. Attentive. As we were a table of 6, and each had a variety of dishes. As for myself, I was disappointed in the "Steak sandwich." It was very tough, I've never had a steak this tough. French fries were great. I've eaten a lot of steak sandwiches, so was disappointed at this great pub. I rarely complain on food, so hope this great pub improves In food dept. Will come again in future.
