Tenuta Opuntia - CALATABIANO

I had the luck to spend three days at this unique place. my room was comfortable and well equipped. eat it! I can't say enough about mariannas. pamper them with five lunches and dinners. fresh. inventive and beautifully presented. the look Taormina,...Calatabriano and etna. simply super.

We decided to visit this restaurant because of its remote location and great reviews. their website reviews, their Facebook page, no information about temporary closing of the site. as there is also a hotel, we have assumed that there is no need to call in advance. what a disappointment when we arrived at the end of a steep Scottish road that almost ruined our car rental and found out (after the number on a closed tor), that the place is closed until December. info could have been posted online or at least on a sign at the bottom of the hill to save us the nerve-wracking run, but the owners do not disturb.

We had a nice evening. with a view of the coast from taormina to etna under the full moon .. its exceptional location. with great classic Sicilian menu and excellent home wines at reasonable prices. the road to the top is bad since the wet winter of 2016...so if you don't have an outskirts, it's a good idea to give them a call and pick up on the main square in calatabiano. where it is easy to park. it is a 4k drive, fun in itself with the reward of being as one gets it. the owners and the staff very nice. it is a good idea to get it well before darkness, just to get the advantage of the view. they have recently restored some rooms so that you can actually stay and the morning sunrise must be worth it to get up. something we could do well in the future

This is a wonderful place with a fantastic view over the coast of taormina and surroundings. we had an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the landscape and the coast and then we had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. they gave us a lot. high-quality eating typical Italian cuisine. the service was also excellent. it was a great experience, we highly recommend it!
