El Pastorcito, México - Cahuita

Amazing food! Super authentic place that doesn't look like much but you will be greeted with a smile and the food will blow your mind! Some of the better Mexican food I've had down here in baja, with a huge selection of salsas and condiments, this place deserves its 5-star review!

I stumbled across this gem a few trips back and always make a point of revisiting it. Tasty tacos and quick, with super friendly service! It also has a huge salsa bar with a wide variety of toppings and house made salsas from scratch.

We ate at this restaurant 3 times during our month in TS. We had the El Pastor tacos several times and my wife had a sausage taco once and I had a pastor torta once and a Pastor quesadilla once. They have a very extensive toppings bar with several salsas, Cole slaws, grilled peppers,etc. The portions were very generous and the food was very tasty.On two occasions they gave us complimentary bean soups that were delicious.The restaurant is clean and many locals eat here. The odd part is that there is no printed menu as they list the options on the wall( without prices) but the good news is tacos were around 40 pesos, quesadillas were about 60 and the torta was about 80. (The exchange rate was about 16 to the US dollar). This became our go to cheap lunch spot. Service was very good(even though our Spanish was not) and the ambiance is better than the expected for an inexpensive meal. This was the most bang for your buck restaurant in TS. A very good lunch spot.

Recommended by a Bar man, this is an authentic taco place. No frills, plastic seats and tables. Food comes out on plastic plates covered in plastic (to save them washing I presume). You order in Spanish as the staff know no English. We have limited Spanish but managed. The meat cooked on the chargrill and the tacos come out (order corn or wheat) and then you add your toppings. It's super delicious and really good value.

You will miss this place if you dont know what to look for. Try looking for smoke coming from a grill and a man throwing a side of beef on the BBQ. haha. The toppings are in tupperware and seating is literally everywhere. The tacos are pretty authentic. Sometimes they run out of fish for the day too so get there early.
