We were able to veganize the vegetarian burger, which was delicious and came well-dressed with salad and avocado. The bungalow served a sesame beer that was not vegan, but they were happy to accommodate my request for half chips and half salad. Both the salad and chips were tasty. The burger was made with fake meat, which I normally don't enjoy, but in this case, I found it quite enjoyable. For dessert, I tried the chocolate and coconut parfait, which was delicious and beautifully presented with chocolate sauce, fresh berries, and a berry sorbet. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but was disappointed to see that the new menu lacked vegan options. Despite this, we were happy to have spent most of the day in Derrynane, starting with lunch at Derrynane's house and ending with dinner at the blind Piper.
We stopped for dinner and tried the Aloo Gobi cake with a tasty side salad and chips. The pie was delicious and came with Mayo Chutney. My son ordered the Veg Curry, which had a coconut base similar to a massaman curry - not spicy, but full of flavor. The vegetables included sweet potatoes, pumpkin/squash, and chickpeas. He really enjoyed it, so it must have been good! It's refreshing to see some unique options on the menu.
Despite being in a secluded location, it was nice to find a vegan option at this restaurant, and the Aloo Gobi Pie was delicious. However, I wouldn't describe the staff as overly friendly, as mentioned in the restaurant listing. When we arrived on a busy Sunday, they seemed to mostly ignore us. Another family came in and was seated right away, even though we had been waiting. We had to wait for a table to become available and then wait to be served. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and charm, but overall, I can't give it a high rating.
Fully booked but squeezed us in. Menu just changed today so no aloo gobi pie as in the other reviews or vegetable curry as on the menu outside (actually there was a wee bit left but knowing they were leftovers was a little off putting). They were able to veganise the vegetarian burger. It was really tasty and well dressed with salad and avocado. The bun was a sesame bun instead of that described which is not vegan. It is served with chips but I wanted half chips half salad and they were happy to oblige. Both salad and chips were tasty too. The burger was a fake meat one rather than beans/vegetables which I am not a great fan of usually but I have to say I did enjoy this. I tasted the chocolate and coconut tart, it was very good indeed and nicely presented with chocolate sauce, fresh berries and a berry sorbet. I enjoyed my meal but it is disappointing to see that the new menu has not even one item market vegan. I must say they we were pleased to spend most of the day at Derrynane as lunch at Derrynane house and dinner at the blind piper kept us going.
Stopped by for dinner and enjoyed Aloo Gobi pie with delicious side salad and chips. Pie was tasty and came with mayo chutney. My son had veg curry which was coconut base, like a massaman no heat but flavor. The veggies, from what we could tell, were sweet potato and pumpkin/squash and chickpeas. He wolfed it down so had to be good! Good to see a couple of choices on the menu.
