Contribuiți la feedbackAnother fabulous meal in WA. Tonight ate at Yarri Restaurant in Dunsborough. Just the best meal. Delicious. When I booked, I was asked if I’d like to sit at the kitchen bar. Would I! Of course! Best seat in the house. The kitchen was ready to go when I sat down, the chefs almost twitching and raring to go with the service. The menu features lots of bush tucker and local produce. Many of the dishes are or can be made GF and it was so hard to pick just what to have. First: Burnt pumpkin, nori, togarashi. An amazing dish of sweet burnt pumpkin purée set atop crisp wafers of a mix of nori and tapioca, sprinkled with a few baby shiso leaves and a sprinkle of chilli and maybe sesame seeds (not sure). Just fabulous. Second: Kingfish, quandong, yuzu kosho, plum. OMG what a sensational blend of tastes. The raw kingfish sits atop splodges of dashi cream, with thin slices of what seemed to be slightly dehydrated sticky plum slivers, yuzu kosho splashed over, a few tiny squirts of (I think extra virgin) oil, sprinkled with samphire, and a couple of other seaside greens. Could eat that all day. Both these washed down with a nice crisp Snake Herring white wine blend. Third: Skirt steak, kohlrabi, carrots, burnt onion, koji. Usually comes with black barley which, sadly, I can’t have but they added in some extra greens (chargrilled broccolini). The burnt onion were fine thin onion stalks with tiny flower buds. It was delicious. Just delicious. Picked a Snake Herring Cab Sav, Merlot, Malbec wine for this one and it was so smooth, just wonderful with the steak. Reckon it may have been even better (if that’s possible) slightly chilled. Red wine is usually better slightly chilled which is how it’s meant to be served. Not warm. Remember room temperature in France isn’t usually hot. Lastly for dessert, chocolate, strawberry, rose. Rose scented and flavoured sheets of meringue with a rich chocolate mousse, chocolate soil, strawberry sorbet, and little slivers of strawberry. Usually comes with chocolate biscuit crumbs but I didn’t miss that element. Gorgeous. Finished off with a really good coffee. Don’t often drink coffee as it can make me feel a bit off (think it’s the caffeine) but it seemed right for this dinner and so it was. The chefs are so generous with their help and seemed to really like telling me what different things were, how they were made, and just chatting when service allowed. This restaurant is so worth putting on your ‘must-visit’ list. Wish I’d discovered it earlier! Thanks Shirley Harring (Hand Sourced) for the delicious mag email! Happy Little Coeliac! Thanks guys!
We had dinner last night for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was amazing! In fact faultless staff are so friendly, attentive and professional, food is to die for (particularly the scallops), restaurant is gorgeous... comfortable and beautifully presented cannot speak highly enough of Yarri and will be going back.
Lunch at Short notice! Fantastic food, the miso cabbage is brilliant. You know you are on a winner when the sides are treated with the same respect as the main ingredients. The wine list is good, and has some crackers in there. The Snake and Herring Porongurup Riesling was a standout. Great room, magnificent acoustics and Tom the waiter is a true professional! We are going back to sit at the kitchen bar next time! Don’t let the location put you off, this restaurant is **** good!
We had the 5 x 5 menu for lunch yesterday. Delicious flavours, beautiful fresh food, excellent wine and great service. Perfect for a rainy afternoon. Can't wait to come back. The whitebait was just outstanding.
Beautiful food, great setting and wonderful service. Highly recommend you check out this restaurant if you are looking for a special dining experience.
