Flint’s diner culture is fading, driven away by the drugstore wars that closed many beloved spots as owners cash in on lucrative offers for their locations. My main issue with Starline is that it seems neglectful of its community. The bill for two people came to $42, which feels excessive; two breakfasts alone cost over $30, plus milk. It raises questions about how they're using their profits. Regrettably, I won't be returning because I can’t justify such high prices for diner fare. I hope they reconsider their pricing strategy, as the local community may struggle to afford this. Diner food should be good, reasonably priced, and accompanied by great service and a friendly atmosphere. Come on, Starlite, do better! In my opinion, they should avoid the trap of greedflation.
Prepare for an adventure! I regret not taking a picture of the 1950s era sign. This place has been here a long time and is populated with locals. Pouring rain and packed. I wanted to try their breasted chicken but it is apparently a 25 min wait. So, I went for chicken and homemade waffles. The waffles were very much replicas if what you would make at a hotel buffet: heh--I like those. The chicken fingers came with a huge bowl of ranch dressing. Log cabin syrup: I got excited until I noticed it was 100% corn syrup (but none of it is high fructose) and no flavoring added (including no artificial flavors). This place is the real deal: a fellow diner approached me, unsolicited, to report on the waiting line at the emergency room. This is NOT a place for gourmets and foodies, but for the adventurers who want fast service and local color. Clean.
If you're a fan of delicious coney dogs, this is definitely the place to visit. They have a wide range of options on their menu, but my favorite is the Flint Coney. The wait staff can be a bit blunt, but I believe that adds to the restaurant's character. It truly has an old-school diner vibe. Overall, it's absolutely worth a visit!
Excellent service! They offer gluten-free options, making this my favorite spot to visit when I'm with family.
Food sucks. Service ok .cook has big attitude and don't cook to order . Ambiance is missing from time you enter building
