Sushi Town - Burnaby

The food is delicious, but the waiter always seems to be in a bad mood. Is this a specialty of the restaurant? Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Beware of menu, not all major ingredients are stated. We ordered takeout poké bowls online. Stated ingredients are: salmon or tuna, wakame, edamame, cucumber, avocado, crab, masago, tamago. Without any notification by phone or at pick up, two of these items were substituted for something else, one of which my husband is highly allergic to. When I called to inquire, the person said because I didn't put the allergy in the notes, they can't do anything about it. I clarified that the ingredient was not listed in the description on the menu and explained the severity of the situation. I asked if I had multiple allergies, would I have to list every single one. She said yes. I myself am allergic to beef but if I'm ordering a chicken dish with no mention of beef in the description, I would not tell the restaurant I am allergic to beef. My mistake for ordering from Sushi Town I guess.

Awful. Not fresh. Couldn’t even finish eating what we bought, and it was almost $80 for two people. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CA$40–50 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Dec 2023 Update: SLOW AND EXPENSIVE!! This was one of my go-to sushi restaurants for well over a decade, but it seems to have gone downhill significantly. I was surprised when I walked in at 6:30pm and found a single table occupied, but now I understand why. I used to give this 4 stars, but I've cut that down to 2. We called in a take-out order so we could ask how long it would take, and we were told 20 minutes. When we arrived after 20 minutes, we were told it would be another 15 minutes, after which we were told it would be another 5. In all, it took nearly 45 minutes. When it was finally ready, it seemed like half the order had been sitting in the bag for more than half an hour. Besides the disappointment with the very poor ETA, we were disappointed by the high prices $14 for 5 pieces of sashimi and $8/roll for fairly basic rolls). I'm sad to say that this Sushi Town isn't what it used to be. We probably won't be returning any time soon.
