We got there only 8 minutes after opening and there was already 20+ people ahead of us in line. They are known for their malasadas and they also have Hawaiian mochi donuts as well (which are usually ube and black sesame . They are known for their malasadas and they also have Hawaiian mochi donuts as well (which are usually ube and black sesame . We ordered the strawberry cheesecake, chocolate hazelnut, matcha, hokey pokey, and ube coconut malasadas. @doughweime is open on Thursday, Friday Saturday every week from 10am-3pm (or when they sell out which happens fairly early . Go check out their Instagram because their flavors rotate WEEKLY! Their special flavor for this week was the Nordic Smoked Salmon Malasada which is both savory sweet with their honey mustard dill sauce whipped cream cheese w/ Norwegian
Let me tell you about the wait. Not to say anything about the malasadas those were solid. But being open 3 days a week has its drawbacks. Here 's one of them: I went on a Friday at 1:30pm. I had heard there were long lines, but being a weekday and not during the opening rush, I had hoped the line wouldn 't be TOO long. I was right. The line wasn 't long at all. Because there was NO line. Because they were closed. Sold out , the sign read, silently taunting me for driving all the way out there only to be turned back. Determined, I came back the next day for my revenge. On a Saturday at 12, I expected there to be a very, very long line. I was right. Not only did I have to wait at least 50 minutes in line, they were sold out of all malasadas except for plain and chocolate by the time I got to the front. By my expert deduction, I concluded those were the 2 least popular flavors. And while my love of Nutella still allowed me to enjoy the chocolate hazelnut malasada, I had taken 2 trips out there and come away with little. As of the time of this review, I have yet to try the strawberry cheesecake one which is what I originally went for. But since I can 't get out there at opening time if the price to pay is being potentially turned back, or waiting in line only to run out again then I may just have to live vicariously through other Yelp reviewers who 've tried the other flavors. And again, this is just a knock on the system and the logistics of it all. The fact that they sell out so incredibly quickly speaks to the quality of the desserts. But undeterred and undaunted, I 'll be back to try the rest. Maybe when the lines die down in a year or so.
Disclaimer: I haven't had their donuts at the store yet! BUT I've had their donuts at the farmer's market a while back and they were delicious. Attempt #1: Thursday afternoon 145ish sold out! Attempt #2: Friday morning 945ish a line 20 people deep already. Will be back!
Store hours is from 10am to 3pm. Came before 12 and waited a long time in line then finally inside the store. Then told us they all sold out! Like what happen to 3 more hours?
It can only get better from here. As with most of my recent restaurant discoveries, Doughweime first entered my radar through a tiktok. In the short clip, the pillowy soft malasadas in its various flavors caught my attention. With unique flavors like earl grey and ube, doughweime seemed like a place I wanted to try. Our first attempt to try doughweime did not go perfectly. We arrived around 12pm on a Saturday and were met with a line with about 20ish people. It took about an hour to get to the entrance, and it was then that the bakery owner came out to let us know they ran out of all malasada flavors. We decided to try their mochi donuts to make our trip worth it. The mochi donuts were soft and fine, but not noteworthy. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday for our second attempt. The line was about the same size as the first time we were there. Luckily, after 45 minutes, we got to the front of the line, with malasadas still in stock. Ube Coconut: decadent Strawberry Cheesecake: fresh strawberry flavors Durian: acquired taste, but the durian flavor is definitely there Early Grey: subtle, floral The whole flight of flavors is worth trying for a complete experience. Some qualms were the long lines, and uncertainty of what flavors were still available. Both growing pains that will hopefully be resolved once they expand opening hours.
