I wandered into Mango whilst looking for breakfast having deposited my children at a sports club. Sultan, the proprietor, made me feel immediately at home and greeted me like an old friend. He served a fantastic cooked breakfast-everything piping hot and very tasty. Sultan managed the delicate balance of being attentive without being intrusive. I can also reveal the bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Mango is easy to find on the outskirts of town on the right hand side as you exit towards Carlow, close to Supervalue. Lots of free parking. I'd advise a visit at your earliest opportunity.
My partner and I visited for evening meal, food was lovely, highly recommend the chicken curry, fish and chips were great, staff are very friendly and helpful, nice relaxed atmosphere,I have no problem recommending this restaurant.
The waitress was lovely. But the chef seemed to struggle to make a toasted sandwich with gluten free bread. They have gluten free bread but the only option is to make toast with it. Too difficult to make sandwiches with gf bread so they won't. The normal bread toastie that i had was good but the whole experience was ruined by the attitude of the chef. There are plenty of other local places that are more welcoming to Coeliacs.
I want this place to be good, unfortunately it was not, it was busy and the waitress was run of her feet for a start, really need more staff at busy periods, service was therefore quite slow. a table that came in after us got their food before us as well,Tea came in a pot that drips everywhere ran out of tea spoons so got Knickerbocker glory spoons instead, chips were over cooked I think because the deep fat fryer needs the oil changing as there was a slightly burnt taste of them, poached eggs were way over cooked and solid in the middle meals came out in dribs and drabs and the sausages I got which were last to be served were not hot and of poor quality, frozen ones, considering it was not cheap and there is a butchers right next door I would have expected much better and there was no mustard in the premises, over all it was very disappointing, and although the Chef and Waitress were very nice, 6 customers wont be back for breakfast Im sorry to say, I hope this is taken as constructive criticism and improvements can be made.
