Highway Hotel - Bunbury

Lunch before booked Christmas dinner, the worst meal we've ever had. the first curs waited an hour cold suppe. half an hour later the main course also cold and no green veges. too cold. very disappointing, our group of about 30 will not be back.

I had what they call seniors Christmas lunch. it was terrible $30 total waste of money. eating was cold suppe and main meal, and very little on top. the service was terrible. arrived at 12 o'clock, got our main meal at 1.40 I'm not. not interested in talking. this service is unacceptable. I will not go back

I've often driven past here and seen their daily specials advertised, and finally stopped in for lunch. Monday is Ribs Night, and for $17 you get pork ribs with chips and salad (for an extra $3, they'll do mash and veggies instead). Other nights feature...other specials. In addition there were several lunch specials, including rump steak for just $18. We had two of the specials, and the food was fairly good not spectacular, but above average. For the price, it was very good value. We were surprised at the size of the restaurant area. It was quite busy (mainly older folks) a positive indication that it seems to be frequented by regulars. The atmosphere was quite casual, but did seem one step above a usual pub type setting another positive in my book. You order and pay at the counter, and we had no complaints about the service. While not a high end restaurant, for what you pay it's quite decent, and I definitely want to come back to try the pork belly some time.

Last time I visited the Highway was back in 1986 and much has changed there in the intervening years. I joined a group of 8 other blokes for a lunch. We all ordered from the lunch menu, I ordering the chicken parmigiana. All tables occupied,...but waitstaff didn't miss a beat. Drink orders delivered correctly and shortly afterwards our meals delivered from the kitchen. Generous portions on all plates and conversation ceased while we enjoyed our respective meals. I reckon my next lunch visit will be at an much shorter interval.

Haven't been to the Highway for a few months after several terrible meals . Thought we would give them another go hoping for improvement in the food . Not to be . Extremely disappointed again. Either an incompetent or arrogant chef. Not hard to cook...a well done steak. Won't be going back to the highway.
