After visiting the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes we went to this recommended restaurant 850 meters west. An icy seafood display is located in the entrance, followed by a cooked food case, and on the stairs, a mezzanine restaurant with a full menu at each of the 12 tables. A waitress took our order, then brought my drink and a sorted bread basket. During our waiting, customers asked to buy prepared food below, while other dinners began to fill the tables. Our hot meals came; Linguine with mussels and grilled salmon with mixed salad, both delicious and filling. With a can of local beer, the bill total 551Ap($28.80), a seafood for us.
We passed this place on the way from the Museo Nacional de Belles Artes to the Museo Evita and what was first caught our eye was that she grilled fish over a large grill similar to meat in a parilla, and the fish looked very good. Further investigations revealed that it was a fish-fruit fisherman, which could either be removed from raw or pre-prepared cold or hot boiled seafood. It was just by chance that we looked up and saw an intermediate floor that opened up into the shop that had tables and chairs. We climbed the steel stairs and were welcomed and sitting in a small area that took only about 20 people and was already half the locals. This was not a beautiful area (paper placemats), but it was very clean and airy. Menu had a lot of choice and you could see that the seafood was fresh and, based on the number of people who came to the store while we were there, that it was turned around quite regularly. The wine card was very limited. We ordered the grilled Lenguarda, a white meat fish we were advised, came from Patagonia, a mixed salad, 2 bottles of mineral water and a 1/2 bottle of wine (total cost with lid fee was ARP600, of which the wine was ARP110). We received both 3 large fillets from Lenguarda and it was very delicious. The young lady who served us was very pleasant and super efficient. Would definitely come back.
When eating fish and seafood it is very interesting to observe the cook and its assistant cooking tables on the first floor and kitchen on the ground floor. In addition to La Marisqueria, delivery to your home...
Small upstairs restaurant in this in fishmonger of Buenos Aires on Las Heras! An institution--casual, but great. And good wines but limited selection too. Calamares were great- chilled, a la provencale. Linguini with clams looked great! Good food and friendly people...mainly BA natives not tourists!
